About
ArktiskMat (Arctic Food) is an annual food symposium in the picturesque town of Mosjøen, Norway. For one weekend in September we meet for talks, workshops, demos, lunches and dinners in and around the historical street of Sjøgata. The concept also include roadshows throughout Norway, Europe, and beyond.
ArktiskMat has since 2012 brought people together to share knowledge about food and culture. The symposium is an inspiring meeting place for young and established chefs and food people, who would like a greater insight in what moves around in the arctic region.
For future generations we want to achieve awareness around our recources and a sustainable approach to promote the craft of food production and arctic food culture.
Organisation
The ArktiskMat Symposium is organised by Northern Norway Competence Center Food (NKMAT), an independent section under Mosjøen Upper Secondary School for Agriculture and Natural Resources. NKMAT was established in 2021 to congregate and communicate all of the School's and Centre's food related activities.
The Center has three employees who work to develop the region's and the country's food expertise in collaboration with actors such as Nordland County Municipality, the research institute NIBIO, Bodø2024, Samfunnsløftet, Competence Network for Local Food, Arctic Council and the Arctic Economic Council.
In addition we are so lucky and grateful to have a small army of students, teachers, local partners, "behind the scenes workers” and “foodie volunteers” who contributes to the event!
