NORA - Arctic Young Chef Competition

NORA - Arctic Young Chef Competition

Calling all aspiring young chefs in Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and coastal Norway (the 9 fylker/counties that border the North Atlantic Ocean, from Rogaland to Finnmark in the north)! Are you ready to showcase your culinary skills on an Arctic stage? It is our pleasure to be able to invite chefs and food enthusiasts under the age of 30 to apply for a chance to compete in the NORA Arctic Young Chefs Competition! In Norway, our national competition will take place on 12 September 2024 during ArktiskMat Symposium in Mosjøen.

We will select between six and eight chefs or food enthusiasts under the age of 30 to compete in the national competition in Norway.

NORA will cover travel and accommodation for those that are selected to participate in the national competition. Winners of the national competitions will receive DKK 10,000, and if you move on to the final you will have an opportunity to win DKK 25,000, and also the winner of the final competition will be invited to take part in a week-long work stay at Michelin-starred KOKS restaurant (travel and accommodation covered by NORA).

If you are interested, please submit an application answering the following questions:

  • What are your thoughts about cooperation in the North Atlantic region? How do you contribute to collaboration among chefs in the region?

  • Which three underutilised ingredients would you like to use? (By ‘underutilised’, we mean easily obtainable ingredients that are not regularly used for food—though they may have been in the past.)

  • What local / traditional dish do you make best?

Please submit your written application (via email) in English to Jason Ball (jasbal1@vgs.nfk.no).

The deadline to apply is 20th March 2024!
