ArktiskMat 2023
Looking back at the amazing ArktiskMat weekend Sept 8th & 9th in Mosjøen!
This year the symposium moved to the brand-new Bakgården Kultur in the center of Mosjøen. The new venue perfectly suited the format of ArktiskMat with around 120 participants and significantly enhanced the quality of what was happening on the stage.
Barthbryggo in Sjøgata, traditionally used as the location for dinners, got new owners with exciting plans to develop a new restaurant on the premises are underway, and ArktiskMat is involved in the process. This year, only minor changes were made inside the building, allowing for a few more guests at dinner. Vikgården, with its lovely backyard, served as the location for lunches. Two pavilions were also set up here, furnished with benches, tables, and decorated in a sea-themed manner.

This year's event was exceptional with a range of exciting presentations and impressive demonstrations. The entire program can be viewed at www.arkmat.com/program. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the success, including our dedicated presenters, talented chefs, attentive waitstaff, skilled service personnel, engaged students, incredible volunteers, generous sponsors, and many more. They were a huge part of making the weekend so unique and memorable!
We had the pleasure of listening to inspiring stories from people around the world. Each shared their valuable knowledge and offered their own interpretation of this year's theme, "THE OCEAN." The culinary experiences were diverse and incredible, and we even heard about shrimp fishing from horses! In beautiful surroundings, new networks and friendships were forged.

Throughout the year, ArktiskMat collaborated with students from various study programs at Mosjøen Videregående School. It is an important goal to involve and engage students in the Culinary program and to recruit students from middle school. One of the initiatives is an annual Seafood Course featuring seafood expert Roddie Sloan and several of the star chefs who have come to participate in ArktiskMat.
