Vegard Stormo
Chef Vegard Stormo’s culinary career is strongly shaped by his passion for natural ingredients, through fishing, foraging, and hunting, which he has practiced since childhood. He has previously served as head chef at Scandic Narvik, and in 2020 he received the prestigious award “Chef of the Year” in Norway.
In 2024, he opened the small and intimate restaurant Glasskiosken, located in a historic kiosk building in Narvik. The concept is built around a sustainable dining experience based on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Vegard is deeply inspired by Northern Norwegian and Sámi culture, and is committed to exploring and highlighting the traditions, knowledge, and values rooted in the region’s close connection to nature. Through his work, he aims to bring these cultural influences into modern gastronomy and share them with both guests and staff, strengthening appreciation for local heritage and identity.
Last time he presented at ArktiskMat, he created an exciting tasting experience featuring waffles made with reindeer blood, served with cured reindeer meat and fish roe. We are very excited for this year’s demo, where he will be joined by his Glasskiosken colleague Børge Strøm.
